Department of Political Science


About the Department: -

The Department of Political Science of Chandra Kamal Bezbaruah College, Teok is one of the premier departments of the College. The department is imparting higher education to the people of Teok Revenue Circle since the establishment of the College in 1959. Affiliated to the Dibrugarh University offering Honours courses, the teachers and students of the Department have brought laurels to the community since the year 1965-1966. Couple of alumni of the department is engaged in responsible positions in Government and Non-Government Sectors. A few of them are faculties in Colleges as well. The Political Science is one of the most sought after discipline of study in the College. This year 98 students have enrolled in the department as Honours student. Almost 150 students are pursuing Under Graduate CBCS Honours course in the discipline at present. Nearly 200 students are pursuing the Generic Elective Course of Political Science. The teaching and research programme of the Department is based on a comprehensive social science approach that is integrated and multi-disciplinary. It encourages comprehensive research study and understanding on various political and socio-economic areas based on national and international issues. The department also helps weaker students through extra-tutorial and ICT oriented classes as well as help them develop their analytical understanding and research skills. The department comprises of experienced academic potential and rich departmental library. Since its inception it had entered into many collaborations with local and regional Universities and Institutions for greater enhancement of its course outcome.

Opinion The mirror of the view
The Department of Political Science has a tradition of publishing a Departmental Student Megazine annually. The Megazine is the mouthpiece of the Department and act as a platform of experiential and participatory learning . The students of final semester takes the responsibility of publishing the magazine. Usually it is published on 5th September on the occasion of the foundation day of the college. It is often edited by the senior students.
