About the Department: -
The Department of English, C. K. B. College, Teok is one of the major departments of the college which offers courses both in Higher Secondary and Undergraduate level. The Department was established in the same year (1959 ) the college was established. During that time, Non -Major courses were taught upto Degree 3rd year but from the academic year 2003 -04, English Major was introduced along with Degree General course . Since the academic year 2019-2020 the Department has been offering English Honours in the CBCS system. Late Jogendranath Bhuyan, was the founder Head of the Department of English. At present Dr. Junti Boruah is the Head of the Department. Objectives: The department aims- *** to develop communication skills of the students to enable them to express themselves clearly and comprehensively both in spoken and written English. ***to provide an appropriate knowledge of the subject in various relevant areas of studies such as - History of English literature, History of Language, Linguistics, Criticism , Literary Theory, British and American literature, Postcolonial literature etc. *** to develop research skills of the students to enable them to gather and analyze information , expand knowledge and hone critical thinking. Major Achievements: 1.Dr.Junti Boruah won the Best Teacher award in the year 2018. 2.Dr. Moyuri Chetiya won the Best Teacher award in the year 2019.
