Craft, Food Processing and Accounts Keeping 

§  Aone week workshop from 15th November, 2021 to 20th November, 2021 was organised by Skill Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development Cell of C.K.B. College, Teok in collaboration with Women Cell, C.K.B. College, Teok.

§  The programme was divided into three segments- Craft- making, Food Processing and Record Keeping.

§  On 15th and 16th November, 2021, the students of the college were provided hands on training on craft making. The resource person for the same was Ms. Madhumakhika Kashyap from Jorhat. A total of 133 students from the college joined in the workshop. They were taught to prepare various craft such as- Glass painting, water bottle carrier etc. during these two days; the final pieces subsequently have been kept at the Women Cell Office for storage.  

§  On 17th and 18th November, 2021, the participants were provided with both theoretical and practical knowledge on pickle making. The resource person for the same was Ms. Nastalina Borah from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. The students were trained with the method of packaging and labelling the products as well. This segment has been chosen to make the students learn regarding the usage of locally available products and turning them into commercial products with a minimal investment. At the end of the session, the final products- olive pickle, gooseberry pickle, paanitenga, khaaroli were sold at a sale counter at the college premises. A total of 121 students participated in the workshop.  

§  On 19th and 20th November, 2021, the cell conducted a segment on record-keeping for the members of local SHG at GyanmaliniMahila Sangha, Jagduar, Teok. The segment aimed to benefit the SHGs in their record-keeping and cash management techniques. The resource person for the same was Dr.Debananda Boruah, Associate Professor, Dept. of Commerce, C.K.B. College, Teok. He highlighted on the importance of record-keeping and guided the people with certain cash management techniques-receipt and payment account and income and expenditure account and its applicability. He also supplied handouts to the members of the SHGs for their perusal. There were members from 13 SHGs that took part in the workshop.

 

Programme Outcome

§  Participants were able to find ways to be self-dependent and self-sufficient.

§  The members of the SHGs were made acquainted with record keeping to help themselves while managing the SHG.
