Title: - Institutional Social Responsibility Committee, C.K.B College, Teok in collaboration with Farmers’ Friend Club Coordination Committee, C.K.B College, Teok organized a National Workshop on the topic “Livestock-Fish-Horticulture based Integrated Farming for Enhancing Livelihood Security and Economic Empowerment of Rural Youths” on 20th and 21st May, 2022.Theme of the workshop: The Indian economy relies heavily on agriculture. Agricultural activities provide a living for about 60% of the Indian people. Indian agriculture is dominated by small and marginal farmers. With significant risks of natural calamities such as floods and droughts, India’s marginal and small farmers are focusing almost entirely on agricultural production. Farmers are unable to make enough money to support their families because of these calamities. Rising food and energy prices, depleting water supply, diminishing farm size, soil degradation, and climate change have adverse effects in the agricultural production

Institutional Social Responsibility Committee and Farmer's Friendship Club Coordination Committee jointly organized a National Workshop on the topic Livestock-Fish-Horticulture based Integrated Farming for Enhancing Livelihood Security and Economic Empowerment of Rural Youths on 20th and 21st May, 2022. Cropping,
animal husbandry, fisheries, poultry, piggery, dairy, goatery, and other
agricultural enterprises that are integrated into the farming system have
enormous potential in the agricultural sector. But, farmers that focus
primarily on crop production, fish production, or any one livestock or poultry
farm face a high level of income and employment insecurity. Integrated farming
systems (IFS), which combine livestock and crop industries, are gaining
popularity among small and medium farmers. The Indian government has taken
notice of IFS in terms of mixed agricultural systems, and numerous initiatives
have been developed to ensure the livelihood security of small and marginal farmers,
as well as to advance agriculture and animal production.
In Assam, the agricultural sector forms the backbone of its rural economy. A large number of educated young people in Assam are currently practising integrated farming methods such as pig-fish farming, duck-fish farming, horticulture-fish farming, poultry-fish farming, and so on. Cropping, animal husbandry, fishing, poultry, piggery, dairy, goatery, and other agricultural enterprises integrated into the farming system have enormous potential in Assam’s agricultural economy. The aim of the workshop is to look into the challenges and opportunities of “Integrated Farming” in Assam. It is hoped that this workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to discuss in depth the most recent scientific methods and various innovations in the proposed area in order to provide rural livelihood security for small and marginal farmers, as well as to usher agriculture and livestock production.
