Buragohain. , Monmoyuri Gogoi. Introduction: Educational tours for
students provide them with an opportunity to collaborate with teachers, an
integrate new perspectives with informal environments to enhance learning
initiatives. Among the many educational
tour benefits, skill development is the most important. In order to meet
several educational tour objectives, students need to apply skills, values and
general knowledge in new settings. keeping in view the department of Sociology,
CKB College, Teok organized an educational tour to Toklai Tea Research Centre, Kaziranga University and Sukapha Maidan,
Jorhat on 4th April, 2018. Objectives: 1. Learning
is the process of acquiring new knowledge or modifying the existing knowledge,
skills , behaviours, values or preferences. 2. It
offers perfect informal setup for discussion, dialogues and experiences which
helps to developing various life skills. 3. Deep
social and historical knowledge. 4. Develop
critical thinking 5. Enhances
perspective. Outcome: 1. As educational tour expose students to different lifestyles, places. By touring the three places students are able to broaden their understanding. They able to introduce and interact with lots of academicians, scholars in various disciplines. 2.
Evidence suggests that
field trips stimulate students’ reasoning skills. The team was able to write an
essay on Toklai Research Centre, Sukapha memorial House located near the Kaziranga university. 3.
The students showed
improvement in critical thinking including ability to describe and comment on
Sukapha. 4.
Students can able to
know about higher career opportunities, different professionals courses for
their future studies.
