I am pleased to present the report on the internship session organized by the Department of Sociology, CKB College, Teok, held at Bakery House , Teok, on 23rd  March 2024. The internship aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the operations of a local bakery, fostering their understanding of sociological concepts in a real-world setting.

 

1.     Objective of the Internship Session: The primary objective of the internship session was to allow students to apply sociological theories and methodologies in analyzing the organizational structure, interpersonal dynamics, and community interactions within a small-scale business environment.

 

2.     Preparation and Planning: Prior to the internship session, the Department of Sociology coordinated with Sree Bakery management to outline the objectives, schedule, and activities for the day. Students were briefed on their roles, responsibilities, and expected outcomes.

 

 

3.     Internship Activities:

·         Introduction to Sree Bakery: The day commenced with an introduction to Sree Bakery, including its history, mission, and business model. Students were given a tour of the bakery premises, acquainting them with various departments and processes.

 

·         Observational Studies: Students engaged in observational studies, documenting the interactions between bakery staff, customers, and the local community. This provided insights into social behaviors, communication patterns, and cultural dynamics.

 

 

·         Interviews and Surveys: A series of structured interviews and surveys were conducted with bakery employees and customers to gather qualitative data on their experiences, preferences, and perceptions. This enabled students to explore themes such as employment relations, customer satisfaction, and community engagement.

 

·         Data Analysis: Following data collection, students analyzed the findings using sociological frameworks and methodologies, identifying patterns, themes, and implications for the bakery and broader societal contexts.

 

 

·         Reflection and Discussion: The internship session concluded with a reflective discussion, where students shared their observations, insights, and learnings. Additionally, ongoing engagement with local businesses and organizations can facilitate mutually beneficial research projects and initiatives.
