The respective departments of the sociology and history decided to organize an inter-disciplinary class on 24th May ,2022 and the theme of the discussion was given 'Caste in Modern India' .The resource person for the above occasion was Dr.Bikash Nath ,HOD and assistant professor of history .Mr.Pranab Saikia ,HOD and assistant professor of the department of sociology introduced the resource person to the students and he rightly pointed out the changing landscape or the area of the education system where the globalized trend has brought some fundamental changes in the policy initiatives of the federal governance of India . Dr. Nath gave an analysis of the evolution of the conceptual category of caste since the later Vedic phase in several stages of its formation as the stratified context . In the process of transformation in the space and technique of production relation and subsequent market relation greatly oriented the beliefs and rituals within the caste system. In fact , in modern independent India also , the constitutionality of the governance has recognised the relevance of the caste system but with certain modification in terms of giving a good egalitarian backup to the past hierarchical inequalities.
