The Inaugural speech was delivered by Prof. Sunil Kumar Bhattacharjee , Rector ,C.K.B College ,Teok . Although , Prof.Bhattacharjee’s discipline is Economics but he succinctly does put his thought in the evolution of the lexicography and  how the American Baptist missionaries tried to revive the lost tradition of the Assamese literature and the persons like Miles Bronson , Nathan Brown tried their best to give a strong footing to the discourse of the lexicography in the nineteenth century Assam . In fact , he urged the department faculties to invite students of the other departments also . The President and Head of the department Dr.Bikash Nath introduced Dr.Karabi Gogoi to the students and he spoke on the excellent academic career of Dr.Karabi Gogoi (Ph.D on the Development of the Writing of the Assamese Dictionaries till present for which she was awarded in 2012 by the Dibrugarh University , Assam). Through her lecture , she emphasized on the hardships one has to endure in course of research for a particular hypothesis and how she started her journey in research with a deep commitment to the problems she faced in reading the history of the dictionaries  . The writing of dictionary in Assam was started since the writing of Tengai Mohan and later Jaduram Deka Barua .tried to give strong base to the art of dictionary writing based upon the simple phonetic sounds of the Brahmaputra valley particularly its eastern part. After negating various phonetic and grammatical points developed by the Baptist missionaries like Bronson ,Hemchandra Barua tried to sanskritize the origin of the Assamese grammar and language through writing of the text of Grammar and the magnum opus the ‘HEMKOSH’ which fundamentally altered the meaning of dictionary in Assam. In 1933 ,the Asom Sahitya Sabha published the Chandrakanta Abhidhan based upon the Hemkosh. Although there are great similarities between the two dictionaries but there were  some differences also regarding words . The works of the later lexicographers like Maheswar Neog, Sumanta Chaliha, Dr.Hiren Gohain , Dr.Ramesh Pathak , Paresh Baishya works are also significant. The lecture programme was concluded by the vote of thanks given by Dr.Bikash Nath.
