Overview

The Department of History at C.K.B. College, Teok, organized an educational field study cum museum visit on March 20, 2024, for the students of the B.A. 6th Semester. The visit included tours of the Jorhat District Museum, Swargadeo Chaoulung Siu-Ka-Pha Samanway Kshetra and its museum, as well as Lachit Maidam.

Learning Objectives

The primary objective of this visit was to enhance the students' understanding of the region's rich cultural heritage and historical significance. By exploring these historical sites and museums, students gained valuable insights into Assam's history and cultural artifacts.

Visit Details

  1. Jorhat District Museum

    • The students were introduced to various artifacts representing Assam's diverse cultural and historical heritage.
    • The District Museum Officer, Abantika R Parashar, and Kamal Phukon provided detailed descriptions of the artifacts, enriching the students' knowledge.
  2. Swargadeo Chaoulung Siu-Ka-Pha Samanway Kshetra and its Museum

    • This segment of the visit focused on the legacy of Swargadeo Chaoulung Siu-Ka-Pha, the founder of the Ahom dynasty.
    • Museum Assistant Zilmil Parasor made excellent arrangements and facilitated a comprehensive tour of the museum.
  3. Lachit Maidam

    • The visit to Lachit Maidam provided students with historical context regarding Lachit Borphukan, the renowned Ahom general known for his leadership in the Battle of Saraighat.
