For a special class on May 5, 2022, the English Department of CKB College, Teok invites Mr. Samiran Borgohain, an alumnus of the department. Mr. Borgohain delivers his lecture on the topic "Theme of Colonialism in Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart". In his lecture, Mr. Borgohain covers discussion on the impact of colonialism on tradition, culture and practices of the African tribes. Mr. Borgohain analyses in detail the imposition of the colonial rule on the African lives, focussing on the complexities and integrity of pre-colonial Igbo life, and the turmoil resulting from the colonial rule. He also points out how the novel critically addresses the battle of tradition versus modernization which takes place in the form of the culture of Okonkwo's clan and the teachings of the English colonizers.

Mr. Borgohain presents a student-centric presentation on the impact of colonialism on the tradition and culture of the African tribes. During the interactive session, he also responded to the students' questions.
