On 14th December 2023, CKB

Institutional Social Responsibility Committee, organized an event titled
“Academic Outreach and Enrichment Programme.” This initiative aimed to
strengthen the connection with the local school, Hanhchara HS School, and
provide academic support to its students. The event was attended by 39 students
from Hanhchara Higher Secondary School. The primary objectives of
the “Academic Outreach and Enrichment Programme” were: 1. To build a stronger
connection with the local school community. 2. To offer academic
support to students from rural areas. 3. To introduce students to
modern ICT tools and digital infrastructure. 4. To enhance the overall
educational experience of the participants. The students of Hanhchara HS School arrived CKB College, Teok, at
10 AM that day. They were warmly welcomed by the Principal of the college, Dr.
Bijoy Krishna Pachani. Following the welcome ceremony, the students were led to the
Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall. Here, Dr. Ambuj Thakur, Assistant Professor,
Department of History delivered a lecture/PPT Presentation on National and
International monuments and their significance. One of the unique aspects of
Dr. Thakur’s presentation was the integration of the evergreen song “Moi Eti Jajabor”
by the legendary singer Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. Through this song, Dr. Thakur
effectively conveyed the significance of various historical places mentioned in
the song. The song, known for its rich depiction of historical and cultural
sites, served as an excellent educational tool, making the session more
relatable and memorable for the students. Following this session, Dr. Dipak Kumar Sarma, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, delivered an in-depth lecture titled “Know Your Constitution.” Dr. Sarma’s lecture covered various aspects of the Constitution, including its framing, key features and the role it plays in governing the country. Dr. Sarma also presented a documentary on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. The documentary provided a comprehensive overview of Dr. Ambedkar’s life, his contributions to the Constitution and his enduring legacy as a champion of social justice and equality. This visual presentation helped students understand the historical background and significance of the Constitution. In
addition to the lectures, the students were introduced to various digital
resources and technologies that the college utilizes to enhance the learning
experience. This exposure was intended to inspire the visiting students to
embrace these tools in their own educational journeys, thereby bridging the
digital divide that often exists in rural areas. One of the highlights of the day was
the visit to the college library. The students were introduced to the extensive
collection of books, journals and digital resources available at the library.
They were briefed on how to how to use academic materials, the library system and the digital
infrastructure for learning and research. Another unique aspect of the program was the
visit to the college pig farm. The students were accompanied by a group of
teachers who explained the operational aspects of the farm. They were shown how
the farm is managed, the care and maintenance of the animals and the various
processes involved in pig farming. This visit aimed to provide the students
with a practical perspective on agricultural entrepreneurship and the potential
for income generation through farming activities.
The
interaction between the college faculty and the visiting students was highly
positive, with many students expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to
learn in such a dynamic and supportive environment. The programme succeeded in
its objective to build a stronger connection with the local school and provide
meaningful academic support to its students. | ||
